Los Barrios has three rivers that run thru its borders. These are the rivers Palmones, Cañas and Guadarranque. The Ruta del Toro or Route of the Bull actually starts here where two major nature reserves hold an area of responsibility: the Marismas del Rio Palmones and the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales. Aside from bull farms, cork trees, eucalyptus and olive trees surround this very fertile land. Today the town’s economy is based on the utilization of this vast richness, particularly in agriculture, cattle and forest resources.
