On January 1, the town of San Fernando celebrates New Year’s Day. This starts another year of holidays and colorful fiestas.
On the last week of February, San Fernando and its people hold their annual Carnival. This is usually a 4 to 5 day affair of merrymaking, music and dances, and fairgrounds.
From March to April, the town celebrates the Lenten season and the Semana Santa (“Holy Week”), usually in the second or third week of April. This is a solemn period marked with masses and processions. The Holy Week remembers the Biblical passion of Jesus Christ and culminates with Easter Sunday.
On June 23, the locals hold the Feria de la Casería, a fair. Another fair, the Feria del Carmen y de la Sal, is held from the 12th to 16th of July.
On November 1, the townsfolk remember their beloved departed on the Todos Los Santos (“All Saints’ Day”). Finally, on December 25, Christmas Day is celebrated.
