On January 1, San Jose del Valle celebrates New Year’s Day. Then, at the end of February, the town holds its yearly Carnival. This is a lavish 4 - 5 day event featuring music, live dances and entertainment, food, and fun fairgrounds.
From March to April, the town, along with the rest of Spain, observes the Lenten season, which ends with the Semana Santa (“Holy Week”) in the second or third week of April. The Holy Week remembers the Biblical passion of Jesus Christ, ending with his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
In the month of April as well, San Jose del Valle commemorates its independence. Then, from May 24 to 27, the town holds its annual fair.
On August 15, the town holds its annual Romeria, a pilgrimage dedicated to the town’s patron saint.
On November 1, Todos Los Santos (“All Saints’ Day”) is celebrated. Finally, on December 25, Christmas Day is celebrated.
