I Dreamt of Cadiz Travel

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Church Architecture in CadizYes, I had been to many Spain cities and towns. I was obsessed with Gaudi’s eternal Familia Sagrada in Barcelona. I fell in love with Madrid’s Parque del buen Retiro. Costa del Sol really stood up to its name as the sunshine capital. Cordoba though is interesting but Salamanca made more an impression to me.

Now, we are preparing for our scheduled visit to another Spain city. And I know the web is full of information of our destination- Cadiz. I found so much about Beaches Cadiz Spain which are definitely awesome and very famous. As I was browsing the web for information, I stumbled upon a blog which praises Cadiz and even made a sketch from a water color (it was a great sketch I’d say). It says that Cadiz has great architecture, great beaches and great streets. I was so curious about how the streets and architecture of Cadiz impresses this beautiful artist and traveler.

Thus, I surfed around to get forehand information about the best architecture in the place so we will not miss it on our visit. I was saddened by the fact that fewer articles are shown and not even one article or blog that describes it thoroughly. So, I opted to search in the images indeed and found a treasure. Cathedral Cadiz Spain is one of the many beautiful architecture that you will see, to which we add several house worships from other religions. Cadiz Spain attractions got an indubitable appeal; besides the wonderful and intricately designed Cathedrals, you must also give attention to monuments, city walls, and Genovese park.

The Silver Cup as the city is popularly known has been the host of many cultures and the influence of these conquering culture remains and can be seen on their architecture. And it was nice unraveling the past in every travel. It is nice when you stare at something that is once part of a great era.

…..And Cadiz travel inspires just that.

Cadiz Travel, a Visit to the Oldest City in Spain

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

One of the oldest settlements in Spain is Cadiz. A dream holiday destination for couples, families, adventurers, tourist and travelers never missed to include this fascinating city to their list. How could they forget this city in the southern part of Spain when it is one of the talked about travel destination even as far as the Roman Empire days?

It was in the 18th century that Cadiz flourished the most beautiful of architecture during its time. Wonderful churches and narrow alleyways plus with clear blue water are the remnants of those times. Remnants of passed that was never forgotten. Remnants of history that can not be buried even by time.

Getting to Cadiz has so many options. You can choose to travel by car from France and navigate your way to Spain’s motorway. Or if you choose to fly the Jerez Airport very accessible which serves flight even from Netherlands and Germany and other EU countries.

Ferry Service operates on weekly bases from Arrecife, Las Palmas and Sta. Cruz de la Palma. Taxis are available and metered; most though speak the English language but it is better to bring a map or address or desire destination just to make sure. Buses are also available from some parts of Spain like Madrid so you better check schedules first.

While in Cadiz do not forget to see the Plaza de las Flores, Torre Tavira, Puertatierra, Cathedral, the beaches and Seafront, Plaza de Espana and Alameda Apodaca.

Though, a visit to the off the beaten tracks offered the most surprises; the nightlife is also wonderful.

Punta de San Felipe is a joy. The sea air and the splashing of the water add to the magical setting of the summer evenings; I am talking about the discotheques and pubs that surround then place during summer.

I never thought that dusk, seaside walk and palm trees are perfect threesome to a wonderful evening. But it is in this part of Cadiz between the football stadium and Melia Caleta Hotel.

The city of Cadiz is one of the tranquil cities of Spain, located in the Andalusian coast. But it could be the liveliest city in Spain when there is a special occasion or if it would host to some of the country’s eventual party. Accordingly, the fun in Cadiz was started in the 17th century. That was when Cadiz was trying to do their best the dissolute carnival celebrations in Genoa and Venice. Additionally, the Spanish galleon crews are also contributed history to the yearly carnival celebration after they brought back silver and gold to the city. Due to that it also brought back various kinds of musical influences which evidence could be seen in this recent time.

During the carnival period in Cadiz, the preparation takes so much time, effort and money. Sometimes it leaves messes, yet after the event all is worthy. The alleys of Cadiz would be filled with beautifully arranged decorations; street vendors were organizing their displays of fruits, toys, fabrics and more. The carnival as well prepares stages where to perform some of the city’s famous bands, comedians, and musical actors and actresses. Spain travel in Cadiz would all be worthy if you visit the city during their peak season. Yet it is recommended for you to book and accommodation in advance or flights in advance because it is expected for the city to have a lot of visitors during this time.
