Cadiz Holiday is A Once in a Lifetime Vacation

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I am a fun of Greek Mythology characters from Zeus, Agamemnon to Achilles…. and of course Hercules. And old whispers that persist through time had told that Cadiz was founded by Hercules. So of course instantly… I save, (grin) not packed my bag yet, for the big event of visiting the city founded by my favorite Hercules.

Travel to Cadiz Spain is not easy endeavor mind you; I have to skip a couple of night out, well got to be honest, and skip three years of spending on nightlife and even football games. My travel to Spain is a gift and a product of hard labor and ingenuity. I did not expect much but I found more than i could ever imagine. So the legendary city founded by Achilles is not a mere myth and a product of imagination.

It has made my travel to Spain magical, meaningful and enjoyable. From th architecture hopping and seeing to the garden walk and tower visits; everything has its own place. Mind you I stayed more than two weeks and I have not visited ALL of the tourist destination and also the least trodden path.

The island is surrounded by water thus rooms with a sea view are plenty. You will fall asleep with the sound of the soft waves, depending on the weather or you will witness the uneasy rushing of the waves as if impatient about something. Most of the time, the moon will accompany me in my Cadiz Spain travel up until before I close my eyes.

Whew, I am lucky to have someone to hold hands with to savor the lover’s atmosphere in Cadiz. Travel to Spain is not a mere encounter with an ordinary place but it goes beyond the word magnificent.

The soft and friendly laughing banters of the locals together with the music that plays usually add just the perfect flavor of you Cadiz Spain travel.

A few sand particles placed in a very small and decorated bottle kept inside my closet is a token and keepsake travel from the beaches Cadiz Spain. Yet, the experience that I loved most is gazing at the setting sun while standing on a cobbled street. Cadiz specialty indeed is to heal your soul as you walk through these streets leading to beautifully tucked away shop.

The fact that the city is facing the Atlantic Ocean means it receives a fair amount of a storms wrath. Thus, the location and structure of the buildings, architecture, and shops are influenced by this natural phenomenon. The Cadiz Cathedral, shops, sea walls walk, stroll around the old town and taste some tapas special are beautiful moment in Cadiz.

Here are some of the attractions in Cadiz, Spain.

Visiting Cadiz Spain

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

The city of Cadiz is located on the southern coast of Spain particularly on the western side of Gibraltar. It was said that the city of Cadiz was established during the Phoenician period around 1100 BC which is now appointed as one of the oldest cities in Europe. Touring Cadiz through walking in their narrow allies and streets will give you the chance to have a glimpse on their historical buildings and museums which is full of historical archeological artifacts. Imagine this narrow street of Cadiz is more than 300 years which said to be first discovered than America.

Unlike the other cities in Spain like Barcelona, Sevilla and Madrid the city of Cadiz is not really that visited and large compared to the latter. However, some of the travelers didn’t realize that there is something unique and interesting in Cadiz which could not be seen on those larger cities. Therefore, for those travelers who haven’t visited Cadiz yet, you should have to try visiting this city. What travelers can expect here are the spectacular beaches of Cadiz, great lanes, and exciting activities which are worth to remember.

On the other hand aside from the incredible beaches Cadiz have, here are the interesting sites in the city that you should not miss to visit:

  • The Tower Tavira—this tower is appointed as the highest watch tower in Cadiz. It is about 35 meters from the street. When you were at the top you will have the chance to see the views of the city. It is included in the baroque style house/palace which is now considered as the sanctuary of the Municipal Conservatory of Music.
  • The New Cathedral and Museum—also called as the Cathedral Nueva. This huge old church can be found in the Plaza Cathedral. Historically, the New Cathedral took 16 years of construction before it was totally established. This cathedral is worth to visit because of its impressive ornaments.
  • The Plaza de Las Flores—this is a great place for adventure travelers. This area of Cadiz is full of street vendors and little shops. There is so much to see in this place which is really interesting.

Cadiz Love Boats

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

If there is one thing that should represent Cadiz travel it would be ‘A boat’. Yes, I found my love for boating in this Spanish place. I love Spain since the very day I knew history and travel. The sunshine and the warm weather is what I dreamt of. A dream that I thought would never come true.

cadiz boatsThen chances are I kept Spain right at my heart and worked to be able to see the very country that caught my ideals of a place. A month of Spain was never enough. I drifted, loved, tasted and toured Spain’s city.

Yet, it was Cadiz that captures my heart. Cadiz Carnival is also a joy to enjoy. This time enjoy a day of satirical songs, creative, colorful and amusing characters. Cadiz Carnival copied this celebration from the carnival of Venice. The groups that awaited you in this carnival are: Chirigotas, a group that mixed humor with political and current events issues; Choirs, the human voice is the most perfect instrument and it is proven by this group; Comparsas, offers the serious side of life a little bit of music expression; Romanceros, is what I enjoy most and has a very personal approach, they are singers roaming the streets to entertain guest.

I spend most of my time here I Cadiz. The town is so unassuming and got a friendly atmosphere that any tourist can enjoy. Narrow alleys give the impression of coziness and warm atmosphere. The building spoke of its pasts; there are good structures to see if you wanted to.

But then Cadiz Bay is my first love. The boats that float around in this area is seems to be made for lovers and more tours. Ask one and tour the area to grasp and see another side of Cadiz. You can even choose your colors.

The air, atmosphere, food and people ion this area just welcomes tourist as if they are families.
